Permanent insomnia
Sleepless nights
Dreaming of sleep
Awaiting the fight
Tossing and turning
Cuddled up with sheets
As I lay motionless
Praying my eyes would seek
Only to continue in hopeless drifts
The price you pay for working graveyard shifts
The life I once chose
It has robbed me thereafter
The sand man jest with his unsettling laughter
I will count all the sheep’s and continue to lay
But sleep never comes it merely drifts away
